Each day i will add one more word to this list until I cant anymore
Things Holden Caulfield is most likely to say when you'r talking to him:
1: Phony
2: Jerk
3: Helluva
4: Sexy
5: Hell
6: Goddamn
7: Fake
8: Beautiful (when talking about Phoebe)
The Catcher in the Rye and the carousel theme.  In The Catcher in the Rye Holden takes Phoebe to the park to ride a carousel. Their she gets on the ride, on this ride Phoebe plays a game. She tries and grabs a gold ring hanging from the wall while she goes around on the carousel. In The Catcher in the Rye Holden sees this and for the first time, admits to being happy, genuinely happy. Holden says, "She just looks nice, in her blue coat, going around and around." This is sadly near the end of the book and Holden has finally become happy and more in tuned in life. He is Not worrying so much about everyone around him. Now he is focused on his life and his family.

Here is a picture of Holden, in this picture Holden is very happy!

Here is a memorable quotes from The Catcher in the Rye.

I’m standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff—I mean if they’re running and they don’t look where they’re going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That’s all I’d do all day. I’d just be the catcher in the rye and all.

These two quotes are very important to the book. They are important because they reflect of Holden image of innocence. The first quote refers to when Holden is explaining what he wants to do with his life. He says that all he wants to be is the catcher in the rye. To break down this quote is Holden has nothing else he wants to do with his life. He really isn't interested in school and he hasn't thought, even imaged anything he would like to do, except to be the catcher in they rye. He thinks about this concept, in his head he lays out what he would do but figuratively he wants to save children from growing up, in other words, saving their innocence.

Do you guys remember the part of The Catcher in the Rye, when Holden goes to find Phoebe in her school and he notices the ugly writing on the walkway? Why do you think this bothered Holden? My take on this is that Holden thinks its to grown up for the children. Because he doesn't want them to grow up he notices that this might speed up there becoming less innocent. Because of this Holden gets angry at whomever wrote the disgusting thing on the wall. Here is a picture of Phoebe, Holden's sister who Holden wants to save from growing up. Also in the picture you will see a carousel which will correspond in our next blog post.

Holden Caulfield is a boy who has grown up to fast, he lost his innocence when he didn't want to. Because of this Holden admires children because they haven't lost their innocence. He wants to save them from growing up. Enjoy these Images of Holden being the catcher in the rye.
The first photo for me really represents the field of rye Holden imagines him self catching kids falling off of it! The second one is just a sketch of Holden himself. Have a nice day everyone, and remember... Don't be phony!!
